2
Long-press your lock screen
Wake your iPhone and long-press anywhere on the lock screen (hold for about 1 second). Your lock screen will enter edit mode — you'll see a "Customize" button appear at the bottom.
Tip: Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 16 or later. Go to Settings → General → About to check your iOS version.
3
Tap "Customize" → "Lock Screen" → "Add Widgets"
Tap the Customize button → select "Lock Screen" → tap the widget area below the time (it'll say "Add Widgets"). A panel slides up with available widgets.
Tip: You can add the Bible widget below the time, or in the small circular widget slots on either side.
4
Search "Bible" and add the widget
In the widget panel, type "Bible" in the search bar. Tap "Daily Bible Verse" when it appears, then tap the widget style you want to add. Tap "Done" to save. That's it — your verse is waiting every morning.
Note: The widget might take a few minutes to show the first verse after setup. If it shows a placeholder, give it 2–3 minutes.

Add to home screen instead.

1
Long-press any empty area on your home screen
Hold until icons start jiggling and a "+" button appears in the top-left corner.
2
Tap "+" → search "Bible" → select the widget
Tap the + button → type "Bible" → tap Daily Bible Verse → swipe to choose size (small, medium, or large) → tap "Add Widget".
Tip: The medium widget (2×2) shows the full verse text. The small widget shows an icon and the first line.
3
Drag to position, tap Done
Drag the widget to where you want it on your home screen. Tap Done to save. Your Bible verse is now on your home screen — updating automatically every morning.

If something's not working.

The widget shows "—" or a loading placeholder
This is normal right after setup. The widget needs a moment to load the first verse. Wait 2–5 minutes, or open the Daily Bible Verse app once — this triggers the first verse to load.
I can't find "Daily Bible Verse" in the widget list
Make sure you've downloaded the app first — widgets only appear after the app is installed. After installing, wait 30 seconds and try the widget search again. Restart your phone if it still doesn't appear.
The verse isn't updating every day
iOS widgets update in the background automatically, but if the verse is stuck, open the app once. This refreshes the widget. You can also remove and re-add the widget — it'll reload with today's verse.
I don't see the Customize option on my lock screen
Lock screen customization requires iOS 16 or later. Check Settings → General → About → iOS Version. If you're on iOS 15 or earlier, you can still use the home screen widget (works on iOS 14+).
Can I have both lock screen and home screen widgets?
Yes — you can add widgets to both. The same app powers both. Both update automatically with the same daily verse.
How do I resize or move the widget?
Long-press the widget → tap "Edit Widget" to change size, or long-press and drag to move it. To remove, long-press → tap the "–" button that appears.
